Help · Reading the report

How sure is a finding?

Every finding carries a label saying how it was produced and a confidence level. Findings whose methods are not yet tested are held back from your report altogether.

A finding's label — here Analyzed, high confidence — with its ? opened.
A finding's label — here Analyzed, high confidence — with its ? opened.

Measured: observed directly — counted from your pages, your sitemap, your robots.txt or the files you uploaded.

Analyzed: rules applied to your pages' HTML. Firm, but a rule can miss your site's particular conventions.

Estimated: a third-party model, such as public traffic estimates for other outlets. Good for direction, not for exact numbers.

AI-coded: coded automatically by a language model, such as story framing. A machine judgement, not an editor's reading.

Confidence (high, medium or low) says how much evidence sits behind the finding — for example, how many stories it rests on.

Held back: some analyses — such as stories filed under the wrong desk and coverage gaps against competitors — rest on methods still being tested for accuracy. They stay out of your report until they pass.
